Polymerization process of PE pipe
Jun 14, 2022
In principle, resins for HDPE pipes of pressure class MRS 8 (PE80) can be polymerized by one of several low-pressure polymerization processes. In contrast, MRS 10 (PE100) resins for pipes are usually produced using tandem, bimodal or multimodal polymerization processes.
Bimodal or multimodal polymerization processes can tailor polymers to meet the needs of different fields and customers. Rigidity, toughness, processability and long-term performance are very important for new special materials for pipes. Common to all PE100 polymerization processes is the inclusion of at least 2 polymerization reactors in series.
